WRC
Rally racing is a form of motorsport that originated in the early 20th century and has since become one of the most popular and exciting forms of racing around the world. The sport is characterized by high-speed driving on public roads that are temporarily closed for competition, as well as stages on off-road terrain.
The earliest known rally event took place in France in 1911 and was called the Monte Carlo Rally. The rally consisted of a race from various cities in Europe to the principality of Monaco, with competitors facing a variety of challenges along the way, including navigating through mountainous terrain and inclement weather.
Over the years, rally racing has evolved and grown in popularity, and by the mid-20th century it had become a major motorsport discipline. The World Rally Championship (WRC) was established in 1973 and has since become the premier rally racing series, attracting top drivers and teams from around the world.
In rally racing, drivers compete in specially-prepared vehicles, often high-performance rally cars, over a series of stages that can last several days. The stages typically consist of a mix of tarmac and gravel roads, and drivers must navigate through tight corners, jumps, and other obstacles at high speed.
Rally racing is known for its high-stakes, high-adrenaline action, and is widely considered one of the most challenging and exciting forms of motorsport. The sport has a large and dedicated following of fans, who travel from all over the world to watch events and support their favorite drivers and teams.
Some of the most popular simulators that feature rally racing include:
Dirt Rally 2.0 - Released in 2019, this rally-focused simulator is widely considered one of the more realistic and challenging rally simulators available. WRC 10 - Released in 2021, this title is officially licensed by the World Rally Championship (WRC) and features a wide range of rally vehicles and tracks from the WRC series. It’s not as highly regarded as the two titles above but for those that desire a more recent roster of cars and stages, it’s sure to provide an enjoyable experience none the less.
